Taking the Plunge
My latest project is the most time-consuming: Avonlea’s quilt. It’s about 47″ x 60″. I didn’t intend for it to be that big, it just kind of happened, but I’m glad now because it should be big enough to use on her toddler bed.
It took me a day to cut and piece everything, then another day of basting and beginning the quilting. This is 2 days of work so far and I’m about 25% done with the quilting. I’m doing free-motion quilting, which is where you lower the feed dogs and use your hands to guide the speed and stitch direction. The pattern I’m doing is called stippling, which is basically just a continuous squiggly line over the whole quilt. I’ve never done this on a scale this large before (in fact, this is only the second time I’ve done it in general), so it’s a little intimidating, but I’m really happy with it so far.
I wish now that I had made the blocks a little more detailed and the sashing a little thinner, but I still love it. The back is really cool too, I can’t wait to take a picture of it.
I have to say that this is really exciting for me. I have always been an avid reader of several quilting blogs, my favorites being a quilt is nice, Crazy Mom Quilts and Handmade by Alissa. I love to marvel at the intricate quilts they make. I could also spend hours browsing quilts on Flickr. Until now, I’ve been too intimidated to try anything like this myself, figuring I would just be an in-the-ditch quilter for life. I’m so glad I took the plunge though and can’t wait to make more.

OMGOSH Alicia, that is beautiful! I want to come live in your DD’s room!!!! It’s coming together soo nice!!!!! You are REALLY making me itch for another girl!! LOL! I think I’ve decided to hold off on the Dr. Suess theme. Since we will co-sleep, baby won’t need bedding or a room for about a year; i’ll have plenty of time to figure out a “theme” for baby then–and if it’s a girl, you’ve totally inspired me!!!! I’m so glad you did mendocino!!!

i was reading throught some of the posts and i find them to be plumb interesting. apologetic my english is not exaclty the exceptionally best. would there be anyway to transalte this into my language, spanish. it would really assist me a lot. since i could be on a par with the english language to the spanish language.

PlayStation Phone – No internal memory? That seems kind of weird since I doubt this thing will use UMD. Also, isn’t the PSP2 coming out next year? Will they make a PSP Phone 2? I’m kind of skeptical on this one. well, i can’t edit…but i wanted to add this. i wont be surprised if sony adds some type of adapter add on to the PS3 (something to support the IR blasters, and maybe a small unit within that add on that has more RAM) so it can support google tv. It would make so much sense for sony to be even more of a presence in the living room, other than what the ps3 can already do. If google tv ends up working out all the kinks, and getting better…i wouldn’t be surprised. On top of that being a selling point (a huge one) over the Wii and similar to the Xbox integration w/ att uverse, you’d be able to get the PSP phone and the ps3 to work all buddy buddy together. the possibilities are endless if you ask me. This would be called product synergy sony…listen to me

Cyclone [Maximuscle]: Used it for 2 months and noticed good results after first 10 days of working hard in gym. I find it a good alternative to measuring out creatine and protein mix seperately but hey these products are all about convenience right I take it for brekky each day but it takes discipline to not still snack as it doesnt fill you up by any means. I feel more full if mix it with a banana, glass of fresh orange, 1 activia and 1 actimel each morning. It takes about 5 mins and makes me feel healthy but who knows. Good luck.
