Avonlea quilts
A couple weeks ago I finished two quilts, one for each of my midwives. These quilts were the largest I had ever done at about 70″x80″ (don’t laugh at me, quilting goddesses, I’m a total noob still and bow to your greatness). And, um, NEVER AGAIN. At least, not on the machine I have currently. My machine is small, very small, and it made these quilts seem very, very big. A lot of needle re-threading, bobbin winding, teeth gritting and F-bomb dropping went into these babies. But my midwives loved them and the moment I presented their quilts to them (which they’ve dubbed their Avonlea quilts, AWWWW), it was worth it. I’m already itching to get going on another (smaller) quilt.
I only have pictures of one of them, taken by my midwife after she got it home. I was on such a tight deadline to get them finished and delivered before we left for vacation that I didn’t have a chance to take my own pictures. Hoping to get some good ones at the annual homebirth picnic next weekend.
And that’s about it from me this weekend. My Labor Day weekend was filled with peddling plastic bowls and microwave cake to a bunch of Germans and getting hit on by geriatrics with sauerkraut breath. But it brought in the cash moneyz so I can’t complain.
